The I Have a Dream Foundation of Idaho announced this week that it has elected Adam King and Christy Giles as new members of the board of directors.
King, an attorney, is a longtime Wood River Valley resident and currently serves as attorney for the Blaine County School District, the city of Sun Valley and the city of Carey. Giles, also a Wood River Valley resident, is a teacher with 15 years of experience in education, training, admissions and recruiting.
King and Giles join other board members Reginald Reeves, chair; Leslie Silva, vice chair; Kenneth Lewis, president; Dr. Leonard Cohen, secretary; Jacob Greenberg, treasurer; Rosario Parades, assistant secretary; and director Terry Ring.
The Idaho I Have a Dream Foundation, located in Blaine County, is the only I Have a Dream Foundation in the state. In 2013, the foundation selected the third-grade class at Woodside Elementary School, now Alturas Elementary School, as it “Dreamers.”
As Dreamers, the 48 students are provided with a year-around program of tutoring, mentoring and social enrichment, under the direction of Project Coordinator Devan Annan, with the intent that they continue with their education and graduate from high school. The foundation has promised to provide the Dreamers with higher education tuition assistance equivalent to the cost of two years of community college.
